From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.
